Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee position(s) in Wamego, Kansas provides employees with supervised on-the-job training in the operation of mechanical tools and light to heavy equipment used to maintain highways, rights-of-way, roads, facility grounds and related areas. Assignments are selected to provide sequential experience in practical applications of training that have been provided in controlled settings. The work that is assigned will begin with closely supervised, specific routine tasks and will progress in difficulty and independence of performance until equal to the tasks that are considered full-performance Highway Maintenance work.
Upon successful completion of the training period and required qualifications, this position will advance to Highway Maintenance Worker I, with eligibility to participate in the Highway Maintenance Worker progression program.
