Location: Urbandale, IA — In office (occasional supervised site walks)

Role Overview

Start your career in construction estimating with R3 Roofing & Exteriors. You'll learn how to price projects, assemble bids, and support our commercial roofing operations. No roofing experience is required — if you've worked in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, quoting, or accounting, your skills transfer well. We'll train you on roofing systems and provide a dedicated winter training program to set you up for success.

What You'll Do

• Review bid invitations and track proposal deadlines
• Measure roof areas using simple computer software (training provided)
• Request and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
• Build cost sheets in Excel/Google Sheets for materials, labor, and equipment
• Prepare professional proposals using company templates
• Organize bid documents and hand off awarded jobs to operations
• Visit job sites with a supervisor to understand project setup

What You'll Bring

• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; comfortable with basic formulas
• Experience in purchasing, quoting, procurement, or budget management (preferred)
• Detail-oriented and organized; able to handle multiple deadlines
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Curiosity and willingness to learn: online tools, manufacturer training, and mentorship provided
• Valid driver's license and ability to work safely at heights (training included)
• Roofing, siding, or construction knowledge is a plus but not required

Training & Growth

• Day-1 online learning: manufacturer modules, estimating guides, and software tutorials
• Winter training program: in-depth roofing systems, digital takeoff software, and estimating practices
• Mentorship: hands-on coaching from senior estimators and exposure to leadership
